Scheduling Appointments
-
This depends if you plan on using insurance or not as there are certain time restraints and limitations depending on your plan and type of therapy.
SESSIONS USING INSURANCE
Individual therapy sessions can be set at a time frame of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 55 minutes long.
Therapy with 2+ partners are 45 minutes long. This structure helps us focus on key issues and make the most of our time together.
If more support is needed, there’s also the option to schedule two appointments per week (NOTE: Insurance does not allow multiple sessions billed in the same day).
SESSIONS PAID OUT OF POCKET / PRIVATE PAY
You can determine your treatment time more flexibly without insurance determining treatment.
You can of course choose to have a 30 minute, 45 minute, or 55-60 minute session.
For partners starting therapy together, I generally recommend extended sessions of:
90 min
120 min
and 180 minutes long.
I’m able to extend my availability as late as ending at 7 pm weekdays or offer availability on the weekend when choosing to pay for an extended session of at least 90 minutes.
-
I offer therapy online via Zoom to folks throughout the states of Colorado, Florida, South Carolina, and Vermont.
I can also provide in-home intensive therapy services and retreats to folks near the Orlando, FL area.
-
Availability is FLEXIBLE!
My general hours are between 9am-4pm Mon-Thurs. However, for those opting for extended sessions of at least 90 minutes minimum, I'm happy to extend my availability as late as ending at 7 pm or weekend hours.
Sessions are scheduled with your convenience and progress in mind. I prioritize fitting therapy seamlessly into your busy schedule, ensuring we can make expedited progress together. For those looking to dive deep and make some serious headway, I offer extended therapy sessions with evening and weekend availability.
Whether it's during the day or after hours, I'm committed to providing you with the support and flexibility you need to thrive in your therapeutic journey.
-
I generally don’t schedule sessions on those days due to administrative work, offering an intensive therapy session, attending therapy consultation to keep my skills sharp, or personal life enriching activities.
However, sometimes I may flex my workload to offer time on those days depending on my schedule. Please ask for more information if you’re interested in seeking treatment on one of these days.
-
In general, people tend to start sessions at 1x per week. However, depending on time and financial resources as well as motivation for change, you may decide to schedule more or less often.
To support your decision making, I will follow your lead with your desired frequency comfort level.
Miscellaneous
-
You don’t! & I’m so confident to say that I’m not going to be everyone’s right therapist. I’m happy to provide referrals to other therapists I think could be a better fit if that’s what we decide after your free consultation.
-
Nope! I also love working with individuals and relationships that have more than 2 partners. I help folks work through dating issues, breakups, anxious attachment, premarital counseling, and navigating non monogamy.
I only see clients age 18 and up.
-
Yes! Online sessions are held through Zoom to ensure your confidentiality. Online therapy allows you to connect from the comfort of your own home (while in your comfort clothes with your favorite fur babies).
All you need is a stable internet connection, mobile device or laptop, and headphones for privacy. Online therapy is confidential, convenient, and effective.
-
Current and returning clients will have access to secure messaging through their individual portals, which is the ethically preferred method of communication.
Email, Voicemail, and Text Messages aren’t secure forms of communication, leaving the potential for the contents to be viewed or heard by a third party.
I respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours during my typical business hours.

This is because I use the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy in sessions which uses moment-to-moment reactions of partners to enact change.
-
If we find that we're a good fit and you're interested in working together, before we schedule a first session I ask that you watch a workshop about Attachment Dynamics.
Then you'll fill out the workshop form with reflection questions.
Once I receive each partner's completed workshop forms, then we can schedule a first session.
-
This depends on treatment goals and many other things. At times I do offer individual sessions separate from regular partnered therapy sessions usually for:
Accelerated Resolution Therapy to help you get unstuck from unhelpful patterns
Collecting more information that I may be unable to get during partnered sessions
I also refer out to wonderful individual therapists if that is the best option.
Insurance and Out-of-Network Benefits

*YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE MAY NOT COVER MARRIAGE COUNSELING*
It is the client’s duty to verify benefits with insurance. Some insurances do not cover sessions for couples, marriage, or family therapy (CPT Codes 90847 and 90846).
If your sessions are not covered, you can use CARE CREDIT for any bills of $200 or more to get 6 or 12 months of deferred interest financing for intensive therapy and retreats.

If your insurance isn’t listed, you can always try using Thrizer, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network (OON) therapy sessions.
They allow you to only pay your co-insurance for OON sessions after you meet your deductible. This means you don’t have to pay my full rate upfront, submit a superbill, and wait for the reimbursements.
We will first check to confirm you have out-of-network benefits.
If so, I will use Thrizer so that you are only charged your co-insurance for sessions post-deductible.
Here's how it works:
1. Sign up for Thrizer at https://www.thrizer.com/for-clients:
2. Enter your insurance information. Thrizer will verify if you have out-of-network benefits
3. Receive an instant benefit breakdown. Thrizer will let you know your deductible and estimated out-of-pocket cost.
4. I will enter your sessions into the platform and charge your card on file my full session rate.
5. Thrizer automatically submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.
4. You get reimbursed by insurance!
Note: Thrizer’s goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will costUnder the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Does my plan cover out-of-network behavioral health services in an outpatient setting? Would it be covered if I had a referral from my primary care doctor?
Do I have a deductible for that?
How much is that deductible? How much of that have I met? And once I do, how much will my plan cover?
Can I, the patient, submit claims electronically? If so, how? If not, what are my options for submitting?
What are the reimbursement rates for CPT codes 90791 (Diagnostic Evaluation), 90837 (Individual Therapy), 90847 (Family Therapy) when these services are provided by a licensed master's level therapist such as an LMFT?
-
Keep in mind that you may also have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) that can be used towards our appointments as well. HMO’s do not provide reimbursement for out of network, but PPO providers often cover 60-80% of the cost.
